Litchfield Jazz Camp Summer 2027

Registration Is Now Open!

Our 4-week program runs from July 4 through July 30 at The Frederick Gunn School in Washington, CT. LJC welcomes students ages 13 to adult and offers both boarding and day accommodations with excellent meals prepared by our in-house chefs. You may register for one week, or multiple weeks with weekly savings. No pre-audition is required at LJC. Instead, campers take placement auditions on arrival to ensure each one is placed in the right-level combo. We encourage campers with financial need to apply for scholarship. LJC offers support on a sliding scale.

Our camp is served by a faculty of 50 top jazz performer-educators. To name a few: Wayne Escoffery (Yale), Don Braden (Harvard), Zaccai Curtis (U. Hartford; 2025 Grammy winner), Emmett Goods (Berklee), and Jimmy Greene (WCSU), a member of the Ron Carter Quartet.

Campers learn and perform in combos and experience the art of their teachers on a daily basis. Weeknights, they attend faculty concerts, and they perform for the public each Friday evening! This concert series, known as Jazz After Work, is free of charge.

Our award-winning faculty teaches combo performance, improvisation, jazz theory and history, composition, and more. Each morning, your day begins with master classes on all instruments. Students may request up to two private lessons a week, and some weeks have a big-band option.

Last summer, we had the largest registration in the past 10 years. We sold out for many instruments, with drums gone in less than a month! The year before, we were waitlisting pianos in the same timeframe. So, we urge you to do your summer planning soon so you don’t miss out. Early registration not only guarantees your spot but earns you a nice early-bird discount and a chance to win free lessons and more.
