By Litchfield Performing Arts, a not-for-profit educational charity.

LJC Scholarship deadline is April 15

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and local/regional businesses and foundations, we are able to provide need-based financial assistance for Litchfield Jazz Camp. This support ensures that the transformative experience camp offers accessible to ALL kids.  We are fortunate in that in 24 years, we have NEVER had to turn away a child in need.

ELIGIBILITY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP?

Our scholarship program is need-based. Anyone who is experiencing a hardship, or cannot afford all or part of the tuition are invited to apply.  All scholarship applicants must submit income verification and any other documents that may be necessary to confirm hardship.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Follow the instructions to complete registration for Litchfield Jazz Camp. Indicate on the application that you would like to apply for a scholarship.  Submit your registration online, and pay the $100 deposit. If the deposit cost causes a hardship, please call our office at 860-361-6285 to have it waived.  Scholarship requests and income verification documents must be received  on or before April 15, 2020 to be considered.

HOW ARE SELECTIONS MADE?

The following are considerations:

  • Documentation/Description of financial need based on income/hardship
  • Total amount of scholarship funds available
  • Total number of requests
  • Geographical location (for geographically restricted funds only)

NOTIFICATION AND TIME LINE?

Scholarship requests will be reviewed, verification of need established and funds approved (if all information is accurate and verified) no later than June 1. When approved, the scholarship will be directly applied to your existing registration; notification will be sent to parent(s) via email. If there is a tuition balance left on the account, it will be due prior to arrival at camp.

GEOGRAPHICALLY SPECIFIC SUPPORT IN 2020

This year, we have received funds from Torrington Savings bank to support students demonstrating need in the NW Corner of CT. We have also received funding to support Hartford area kids from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. Please contact us if you have questions or are unsure if you reside within these areas.

Students outside of these regions are still eligible for scholarships from other funding sources!
