Guitarist Vinny Raniolo to Join LJC Faculty This Summer

Litchfield Jazz Camp is pleased to announce the addition to its faculty this summer of guitarist Vinny Raniolo. Mr. Raniolo will be in residence during the Camp’s first week, June 30 – July 5. As a touring musician, performer, and educator, Vinny Raniolo is a rhythm guitarist in high demand and a widely sought-after accompanist. His dynamic playing has brought him to 14 countries on three continents. He has performed in some of the world’s most illustrious venues, including the Sydney Opera House in Australia, The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, New York’s Lincoln Center and the world’s oldest indoor concert hall, Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Italy. Raniolo is proud to name among his collaborators, Tommy Emmanuel, Bucky Pizzarelli, Frank Vignola, Leon Redbone, and Vince Giordano, to name a few.

In addition to touring, Vinny is a familiar face on Public Television where he has been featured on three popular shows, Tommy Emmanuel and Friends, Frank Vignola’s Four Generations of Guitar, and in the Music Gone Public series where he represented the youngest generation of jazz guitarists alongside the legendary Bucky Pizzarelli. His recording credits include soundtracks for HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and Woody Allen’s film Café Society.

A fixture on the New York Club scene and at international jazz festivals, he appeared last year on the 23rd Annual Litchfield Jazz Festival with guitarist and founder of the SUNY Purchase Jazz program, Doug Munro. The public is invited to hear Vinny Raniolo alongside other Litchfield Jazz Camp faculty members on its free nightly Jazz After Work Concert Series at the Gunnery’s Emerson Performing Art Center during his residency week. The Concert Series is sponsored by the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation’s  Robert V. Carr Fund. Check www.litchfieldjazzfest.com for concert schedule in late June.
