Bassist/vocalist Nicki Parrott now performs all over the world. The stint that got her started in earnest was as a member of the Les Paul Trio. It lasted 10 years at New York’s Iridium where she played every Monday night until Les’ death at the age of 94 in 2009.

Thanks to support from the Les Paul Foundation, Nicki will appear at Litchfield Jazz Camp on July 18 at 3PM. She will host a presentation on the life, music, and innovations of Les Paul. Paul was a songwriter, luthier, inventor and a pioneer of the solid-body electric guitar. Self-taught, he is responsible for many recording innovations such as overdubbing, delay effects and multitrack recording.

His performance career with his wife Mary Ford in the 1950s included record sales in the millions with mega-hits like The World is Waiting for the Sunrise, Tennessee Waltz, Mockin’ Bird Hill, and How High the Moon. Les Paul is the only person to be included in both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the National Inventors Hall of Fame. For the past several years the Les Paul Foundation has sponsored scholarships for Litchfield Jazz Camp students.

Nicki Parrott’s presentation includes a performance with Litchfield Jazz Camp Faculty members at The Emerson Performing Arts Center at the Gunnery, Washington, CT. Jazz Camp students. There is no fee for participation.
