BASS
Sean Pentland is active in international jazz and improvisation circles, most recently in Berlin, Edinburgh and Boston, where he received his degree from the New England Conservatory. In Boston, he worked both as a sideman and a leader, playing standards and original jazz, free and structured improvisations, and new music of all sorts by local composers. Sean tutored in traditional and jazz harmony and ear-training at NEC and has taught at Maine Jazz Camp and the Litchfield Jazz Camp, where he continues to teach yearly. Since moving to Scotland in 2007, he has been an active jazz sideman in Scotland and abroad and with Alba Flamenca and other instrumental Flamenco groups. He currently works with Romani musician Kerieva. Sean has taught in Edinburgh schools and teaches bass, theory and improvisation privately. Influenced by jazz concepts and 20th Century composition, Sean is composing works to be released on album later this year.
