Anton Kot, drummer, pianist, gamelan player and composer, premiered his first commission, the piano concerto, Let’s Try This, with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra at age 18. Other works of his have been premiered at the Berkshire, Litchfield, and Bronx River Jazz Festivals, and the Ravinia Music Festival. He is a winner of the National YoungArts Award, The Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Residency, and the Steans Music Institute Fellowship. A Masters candidate at Juilliard, Anton was recently presented the BMI Future Jazz Masters Award, a $5000 cash prize and a $1500 new-work Commission. Anton has performed at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, the Vail, Newport and Litchfield Jazz Festival, and at festivals from Paris to Beijing. He has performed with Sean Jones, Wycliffe Gordon, Marcus Miller, Ken Peplowski, and many others. Anton teaches at Litchfield Jazz Camp where he was the youngest artist ever appointed to a faculty position. He works each summer since winning National Youth Orchestra of the US honors, touring with the annual NYO awardees. They have performed in South Africa, Costa Rica and Brazil.
