Robin Baytas

At the age of 8, Robin showed his penchant for music by playing along to the radio with sticks on pillows. He soon enrolled in an African drum and choreography group led by the esteemed jazz bassist Reggie Workman where he gained an invaluable foundation in rhythm, spoken word, and performance. Since receiving his first drum set at age 11, Robin studied with jazz drumming masters like Billy Hart, Steve Johns, Charli Persip, Winard Harper, and Matt Wilson. While still in high school, Robin was selected to be one of two drummers in the 2010 Grammy High School Jazz Ensembles where he performed in Los Angeles with legends Kenny Burrell and the late James Moody. In addition, he has shared the stage with jazz greats Wycliffe Gordon, Jimmy Owens, Junior Mance, and Claudio Roditi. He attended the New England Conservatory for Music and is currently a graduate student enrolled at the Manhattan School of Music on a full scholarship.
